Porsche is going to offer wireless charging a feature that we have seen in the smartphones is going to come in ne 2026 Porsche Cayenne EV. This system is based on inductive charging technology where you will need to park your vehicle over a dedicated platform and it will charge the vehicle automatically.

This technology creates a magnetic field between the floor and receiver plate which is placed under vehicle. It is obvious that this will cause heating power that’s why there is fans given to cool the surface plate while the car uses liquid cooling tech for cooling car’s receiving plate. In the U.S., this wireless charger delivers up to 11 kilowatts of power at 240 volts and 48 amps, enabling efficient, home-level charging within a broad temperature range from -40 to 122 degrees Fahrenheit.
Porsche’s system includes a range of safety features. For example, there is radar detector given to halt charging when children, pets or any other obstacle come in between these charging plates. more impressively this system is usable in all-weather conditions like rain, snow or even the debris doesn’t affect the operation. plus the pad is so durable that it can withstand vehicle driving over it.
This wireless option requires buyers to select a factory-installed charging receiver during vehicle purchase. The integration adds about 33 pounds to the vehicle due to the weight of the plate and wiring. For those who skip this option initially, Porsche offers retrofit installation at authorized dealerships to add this feature later. The ground pad itself, weighing roughly 110 pounds, is sold separately and can be professionally installed in a garage or driveway.
This system is very easy to use and has support of MyPorsche smartphone app. Cayenne EV can automatically park itself over the wireless parking sensors which improves convenience. Once you park the car it will automatically lower the suspensions to optimize the gap between charging plates. As per company claims this wireless technology achieves 90 percent efficiency when compared to traditional plug-in level 2 chargers so that’s another advantage.
Exact pricing for U.S market is not yet revealed but as per EU pricing we can have slight idea about it. vehicle’s charging receiver costs around €2,000 (~$2,100), with the floor pad priced near €5,000 (~$5,300). Installation fees will be there for sure making it cost total of $9,000 to $10,000.
