2026 Toyota RAV4 vs 2026 Honda CR-V – The 2026 model year is heating up, and we finally got our hands on the all-new 2026 Toyota RAV4 to put it head-to-head against its arch-rival, the 2026 Honda CR-V.
Powertrain and Performance

First, we have to start with the powertrain of 2026 Honda CR-V which has 2.0L 4-cylinder with 204 horsepower and direct transmission. On the other hand 2026 Toyota RAV4 has more powerful engine 2.5L 4-cylinder hybrid system which edges out CR-V in horsepower of 236 hp. Despite this difference in horsepower both cars feel very similar to drive.
Honda felt much smooth to me, almost like and EV-like because of its direct drive transmission. The RAV4, on the other hand, feels little harder and you feel engine is working hard to produce power.
However, Toyota has better efficiency and capability:
- Fuel Economy: The RAV4 has huge fuel efficiency of 44 MPG combined, and the CR-V trails at 37 MPG combined.
- Towing: RAV4 can tow upto 3,500 lbs which is massive advantage over CR-V’ 1,000 lbs.
Exterior Styling

Honda CR-V is been on road for few years now and let me tell you it looks really nice and now familiar because we have seen it alot of times now.
Redesigned 2026 RAV4 is gamechanger for me, it gives Lexus like front grille and headlights and taillights looks fantastic and much more attractive than the Honda CR-V. If you are looking for good looking car then the RAV4 is better choice here.
Interior Features and The Tech

Interior is the department where these two have major gaps. Honda personally feel more luxurious to me than RAV4, mainly because it has got leather on steering wheel, suspension feel much more smooth and cabin is noise free. Also note the rear doors of CR-V open a full 90 degrees makes it practical for parents.
2026 RAV4 on the other hand feels like an advantage in 360 degree camera over CR-V’ old looking camera. It has got digital rearview mirror and dual wireless chargers which you dont see in Honda CR-V.
My Thoughts
Despite lack of a 360 camera Honda CR-V is more comfortable, feels much smoother to drive and has better interior space making it absolute winner in this comparison.
