Have you ever second-guessed yourself after leaving your car? Did you lock the doors or not? Let’s say you’re running errands, and suddenly panic sets in. You scramble to find your key fob to double-check the locks. But wouldn’t it be nice if your car took care of that for you?

The good news is it can! The Walk Away Auto-Lock feature automatically locks your car when you get 10 feet away with the key fob in hand. Here’s how to activate it:

  1. Find the Vehicle Settings menu.
    • For LX and SE trims: Use the driver’s interface screen.
    • For Hybrid models: Use the larger touchscreen.
  2. Go to Vehicle Settings > Door Setup.
  3. Toggle the Walk Away Auto-Lock to “On.”

Once activated, your doors will lock automatically when you step away from the vehicle.

Remote Start

Remote Start is a standard feature across all 2025 Honda Accord trims. It’s quick and easy to use:

  1. Press the lock button on your key fob.
  2. Press and hold the circle button on the bottom left corner.
  3. The lights will flash to indicate the car has received the signal and started.

Keep in mind that the remote start runs in 10-minute intervals. If you need more time, you can extend it once by pressing the lock button and holding the circle button again, giving you a total of 18 minutes. However, you can only do this twice.

Rolling Down Windows with the Key Fob

Summer days can be brutal. There’s nothing worse than getting into a car that’s been baking in the sun. Thankfully, the Honda Accord allows you to roll down the windows with your key fob to let out the hot air before you get in.

To roll down the windows:

  1. Double-tap the unlock button on your key fob.
  2. Hold it down on the second tap.

The longer you hold the button, the further the windows will roll down. If your car has a power moonroof, it will open as well.

To disable this feature:

  1. Go to Vehicle Settings > Door Setup.
  2. Scroll down to Keyless Remote Power Window Control.
  3. Turn it off to prevent accidental window activation.

Idle Engine Shutdown Loophole

Imagine leaving your family or pet in the car while running a quick errand. You come back to find the car off and the climate control off because of the Idle Engine Shutdown feature. But there’s a loophole to keep the car running longer.

Here’s how:

  1. With the car on and in park, take your key fob with you.
  2. Before walking away, buckle the driver’s seatbelt.

This trick ensures that the car stays on, keeping the climate control running even if you’re away for more than 20 minutes.

Turning Off Daytime Running Lights

If you’ve ever been to a drive-in theater or admired Christmas lights, you know how annoying daytime running lights (DRLs) can be. Here’s how to turn them off without shutting down the car:

  1. Go to the driver’s seat.
  2. Turn the light dial to the “Off” position.
  3. Hold it there for a split second.

Once the car is in motion, the DRLs will turn back on automatically.

Switching Between Adaptive and Standard Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC) is a great feature that helps maintain a set distance from the car ahead. While some drivers love it, others prefer standard cruise control. Here’s how to switch between the two modes:

  1. On the right-hand side of the steering wheel, press the Cruise Control button.
  2. You’ll see two icons:
    • Adaptive Cruise Control: Speedometer with a car icon.
    • Standard Cruise Control: Speedometer icon only.
  3. To switch modes, press and hold the distance-setting button until it changes.

Traffic Sign Recognition and Speed Limit Alerts

The Traffic Sign Recognition system displays speed limits and can alert you if you’re speeding. If you find this feature annoying or want to adjust it, here’s what to do:

  1. Go to Vehicle Settings > Driver Assist System Setup.
  2. Scroll to Traffic Sign Recognition.
  3. You can either turn it off or set a threshold for alerts (e.g., 3, 5, or 10 mph over the speed limit).

Overall, The 2025 Honda Accord is packed with smart features to enhance your driving experience. While some features can be helpful, they might need a bit of tweaking to match your preferences. Hopefully, these tips and tricks help you unlock the full potential of your car. Stay tuned for more tips from Crazy Honda Chris!
