Is the 2026 Sierra EV AT4 Worth It My Honest Take
Let me tell you i was always been skeptic about EV trucks performance in the off-road terrain but 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 has completely changed my perspective. keep reading until end to know why.
First Impressions
From the first look at it, i had this feeling that this is not a average Sierra EV but it is more than anything. And yes, 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 has a purpose, presence, and a clear off-road identity. I am personally impressed with Approach angle of 32°, departure angle of 25°, and Two-inch higher ride height than any other Sierra shows it’s offroad build.
I have experienced air suspension systems in the past they are great in performance but they surely get heated on the rocky terrain. 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 uses traditional steel coils which gives me confidence. these coils are low in maintenance and more reliable than anything.
This EV truck is equipped with Goodyear Wrangler Territory ATs on 18-inch wheels. Compared to other EV trucks these are pretty big. GMC has kept flat belly and used heavy duty steel battery enclosure to support its off roading ambitions.
Powertrain & Performance
Let’s talk about its powertrain, GMC is offering two setups here. I had my hands on the max range pack which offers 478 miles of range and mind-blowing 725 horsepower. This max range is good but i would opt for smaller pack which is offers 625 hp, better towing (12,300 lb) because it is $10,000 cheaper. I don’t tow cross-country, and 625 horses is still more than enough for my weekend overlanding trips.
Interior
The interior of 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 is upgraded, we now get:
- vertical center screen,
- heads-up display,
- physical switches for fan and climate controls
There’s no push-button start; instead, put your foot on the brake, and it silently wakes up. That’s such a satisfying moment every time.
GMC has also given some thoughtful features like adjustable digital rearview mirror, wireless device slots, and my personal favorite: the midgate. You can now extend the bed from 6 feet to 9 feet, useful in camping or motorcycle hauling. Other premium features like heated and ventilated seats, a panoramic sunroof, and Google Assistant built-in makes it more modern truck.
All of above mentioned features are good but i am impressed with Super Cruise, this hands-free driver assist system is so advance now that it can even help you on exits when you’re navigating. Five years this kind of tech was like sci-fi but it is reality now.
Price
2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4 is priced at $80,000 but it will get $7,500 federal EV tax credit. I think this very well priced considering its off-roading capacity, power & range. It’s base elevation trim cost $64,500 which is my personal pick for value for money.
