The 2027 Ford F-150 lineup is going to be a story of two trucks, one is traditional gas-powered F-150 and another is electric F-150 Lightning.
2027 Ford F-150 Overview

Biggest news for 2027 Ford F-150 is that it will be moving away from the pure battery-electric vehicle (BEV). Next-gen lightning is expected to feature extended Range Electric Vehicle (EREV) powertrain.
How it Works – unlike any traditional hybrid system, this 2027 Ford F-150 is going to feature a small EcoBoost unit with gas engine which does not drive the wheels. Instead, it acts solely as a generator to recharge the battery pack while driving.
This system is expected to achieve driving range of 700+ miles (1,100+ km) which i feel more than enough for anyone. Since this will be built on the new dedicated EV truck platform (TE1 or “Project T3”) at the BlueOval City complex in Tennessee it will be cost efficient too.
2027 ICE F-150: Powertrain & Performance
Since the gas model is given to engine lineup it will have similar options:
- 2.7L EcoBoost V6: Reliable standard engine which will produce ~325 hp.
- 3.5L EcoBoost V6: This engine is an towing champion which will retain its 400 hp / 500 lb-ft torque output.
- 3.5L PowerBoost Hybrid: this will remain “generator on wheels” option with Pro Power Onboard (7.2kW).
- 5.0L Coyote V8: This naturally aspirated V8 will be available till 2028, then might be discontinued for emissions regulations.
- Raptor & Raptor R: They will be powered by 3.5L High-Output EcoBoost (450 hp) and the 5.2L Supercharged V8 (>720 hp) making them suitable choice for
Interior & Technology
2027 Ford F-150 features standard 12-inch digital gauge cluster and 12-inch center touchscreen which will larger 15.5-inch in higher trims. It will have 1.5 or 2.0 BlueCruise which allows hands-free highway driving with lane change assist.
Their will be a Pro Access Tailgate which is a swing-out tailgate design introduced in 2024, this will counter Ram’s Multi-Function Tailgate.
Price & Release Date
2027 F-150 is expected to release in the late 2026 with deliveries expected for early 2027. The next generation EREV will have different timeline which is expected to be revealed in mid-2027.
In terms of pricing, the base XL and volume-seller XLT trims should start around $38,500 and $48,000 respectively, while the Lariat is expected to reach $68,000.
The Lightning EREV will likely to have a premium starting price over $65,000 due to its advanced generator-based powertrain.
